What is Okta?
Okta has replaced ePass Montana as a convenient and secure way to access all of
Montana's eGovernment services using one username and password. An Okta account is
required for registering and accessing your Montana Department of Agriculture account
(MTPlants) online. If you previously had an ePass Montana account, simply use your same
user information to sign in to Okta.

Why should I register a Montana MTPlants account?
Once you register, you will be able to access your Department of Agriculture account
using your Okta user name and password. Anyone receiving license or registration
information from the Montana Department of Agriculture can register to access their
online information.
The MTPlants account is where you can:
- pay your fees online
- renew licenses and print your licenses
- renew registrations and print your certificates
- upload new labels and add new product registrations
- report your annual tonnage or assessments
- applicators and dealers can view your education credits and find approved meetings
- update your email address and phone number or request an address change

What information do I need to register?
In order to register, you will need your MTPlants ID and your PIN. You will also need
your email address. Once you have registered, only your Okta user name and password will
be required for accessing your MTPlants account in the future.

Where do I find my MTPlants Id and PIN?
Your MTPlants ID and PIN are printed on your renewal form. If you do not have your
renewal form, please contact our office using the related program contact information
listed on the first page of this document.

I can't remember if I registered previously or not. What should I do?
Try registering again. If you were previously registered, the system will tell you, and
send you an email with your username and password. If someone else had previously
registered the account then contact our office using the related program contact
information listed on the first page of this document.

What do I do if I forgot my password?
Click on the "Forgot Password" link, and supply either your MTPlants ID or username. The
system will email you your password. The ePass home page also has help under the
'Instructions' and 'How Do I' menus.

How do I renew my licenses or registrations on-line?
Log into MTPlants using your username and password. Click on the "Online Shopping Cart"
menu. All of your licenses, registrations, and assessments that are available for
renewals will be shown. Check the licenses and/or product registrations that you wish to
renew, and click "Next". Verify any license information by clicking on the "Verification
Needed" link. Once verified, click on "Add Selected Items to Cart" and supply any
required information such as product labels. When finished click on "Proceed to
Checkout", review the screen information for accuracy and then click on "Proceed" to go
to the NIC Payment processing system where you'll be able to pay by credit card or
eCheck.

Why does my shopping cart say "You have no items that require payments"?
This could be caused by several reasons:
- You have already renewed your licenses or product registrations.
- Your account requires additional information (e.g., labels uploaded, tonnage or
assessment completed, continuing education credits or liability coverage that
expired).
If you believe you should be able to renew a license or registration but do not see it
listed, you can contact the department at the numbers listed above.

What are the payment service fees?
The service fee for credit cards includes $1.19 for the payment processor plus 3.00% of
the sale for the credit card company. The service fee for an eCheck is fixed at $1.19.

What can I do if I get an error message saying "The file is damaged or cannot be
repaired" when trying to print my license?
This means that you are trying to open the PDF file using an older version of Adobe
Reader or Adobe Acrobat. Please download and install the latest version of Adobe Reader
Software by visiting get.adobe.com/reader/. The software is free.

I'm trying to click on the menu or mouse over it and nothing happens, why won't it work?
Javascript is disabled. The website uses javascript to control the menu, report display,
excel export, and mouse clicks throughout the site. Without javascript this site (and
most of the sites on the internet) will not function correctly. To enable javascript
follow the instructions related to your browser.

I'm trying to print a license or report and nothing happens, why?
Pop-ups and javascript must be enabled for this site to function correctly.
I'm trying to open an exported Excel spreadsheet and am getting an error, why?
The software the Excel was created in is a newer version than the one you have on your
computer. To view the spread sheet you must first save it and then open it.

How can I tell if I have items that need to be completed?
Typically, you will receive a Notice from the department informing you of actions
needed. The Account Tasks grid on the Account Home Page will also display any items
requiring your attention.
How can I assure I choose the correct Operation Type for my location?
The department's website at agr.mt.gov contains guidance and definitions under
the Program page. In some instances you will need to review the Law or Administrative
Rules. You can also contact Program staff at the numbers listed above.

Why can't I submit my license renewal and my Tonnage Report or Seed Assessment at the
same time?
License renewals are due before the license cycle ends. The Tonnage and Assessment
reports/payments are not due until 30 days later, therefore you cannot report tonnage or
assessment quantities until after the reporting period has ended. You will need to log
in and process these two types of transactions separately.
